Comment is (Not) Free. The Guardian CiF Joke…

Albert Einstein :- “The right to search for truth implies also a duty; one must not conceal any part of what one has recognized to be true.”

I posted this on The Guardian site at 11.47 this morning and then it was gone… I must have touched a nerve. I wonder which brave little poster felt which part to be too strong to stomach?

So much for the vaunted freedom of the press lol.

Though often proved right by the passage of time I seldom gloat.

I am making an exception for a couple of reasons, not least of which is the amount of and the particularly spiteful mindedness of some of the denizens herein.

Who, exactly, is in denial now? The disgusting behavior of a vocal minority of “believers” who have too much time on their hands or are morally or fiscally invested in the, now fast unraveling, hypothesis that the very gas that allows life to flourish will kill us all soon if we continue to increase its levels to those it has resided at often in times past.
Or we release it too fast.
Or its increasing level in atmosphere will change the pH of the oceans as it approaches levels attained many times before.
Or global temps will rise to previous levels and, miraculously, this time methane release in the Arctic will spell doom.
Or something else invented by rent seeking cheats that will remain unfounded and un-falsifiable, yet profitable for an elite few.

You never did have any evidence that CO2 caused the warming at the end of the 20th century but that didn’t curb your enthusiasm for control, your attacks on progress and your endless malice toward unbelievers.

Sure, there were those thousands of papers by thousands of scientists, supported by all the major scientific institutions, that showed some warming in their chosen fields. We never denied those. All we asked for was real world evidence that our small contribution to the carbon cycle had some effect upon that, now a decade distant, warming.
We were denigrated for asking and denied a platform for debate. One should be extremely careful when witnessing such. One day the boot and foot will switch sides. That is the nature of politicized science.

Meanwhile the very companies/corporations that pollute the biosphere, fish the oceans to extinction, devise new weapons, splice genes and keep billions of your fellow humans in poverty whilst working them into an early gave are laughing at you and pocketing your taxes.
All that effort invested in a weak and sickly hypothesis when it could have done some real good.
All that lack of protest about truly devastating environmental impacts while throwing yourselves, unthinking, against the relentless inertia of the current necessities of modern life such as coal and oil powered energy generation that allows us to progress as all our discovered sources of energy have done previously.
All that spleen vented at entities that provide true benefits in your lives, such as well lit hospitals and libraries, that could have been reserved for government insistence on massive intrusion into your privacy, drug company insistence that herbal cures and organic food are a waste of your money or the dogmatic insistence that war is a necessary evil.

At least the energy companies have to provide tangible goods and services for your hard earned, unlike the carbon trading companies who merely need to purchase ink and paper to “produce” their certificates and will turn over, in the coming decade alone, more cash than all the oil companies throughout all their history. Without a commodity, or a benefit to humanity in sight.

Never mind, big business has many more specters lined up to divert you from true husbandry of the planet, only desirable and possible above a certain level of wealth – a level that we no longer enjoy. They will continue to use the very vessels you admire to do so. Greenpeace, WWF and Friends of the Earth have become grasping arms of the uncaring corporate machine and it happened on your watch. You have helped to build the brave new world our children will inherit. It will not be warm or cozy.

I hope you are proud of yourselves, but I guess you will just continue down the easy path and blame someone else, pick fights with your brothers and wallow, luxuriously, in your guilt. Exactly as “the man” would want.

declaration
I have no financial interest and have no expectation of financial or material reward from the energy industry..

… but I cannot fail to see that the, previously considered obscene, profits of ExxonMobil will be utterly dwarfed by Goldman Sachs, Blood and Gore in the carbon exchanges of the free world and I have far more to be grateful for from fossil fuels than I ever have, or will, from elitist control freaks.

The Rebel Alliance Grows Stronger…

Luther Burbank :- “We must learn that any person, who will not accept what he knows to be truth, for the very love of truth alone, is very definitely undermining his mental integrity.”

The cockroaches will inherit the Earth.

I have spent nearly two years sorting through the dust-trail of the litigation pushers on the global warming thing. I used to argue, but types like monbiot and the guy who edits (up to 600 times a day) the environmental pages of wikipedia (william conolley) are corrupt. Utterly. They avoid debate because whenever it has occurred they lose. This site:

http://wattsupwiththat.com

is overflowing with bright minds who once were convinced the globe was warming so must be forgiven for the vehemence and anger they sometimes display as a result of feeling conned, and this page:

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/04/16/consensus-climate-science-what-would-thomas-huxley-say/

cuts to the divide between the actual science and the religious foot stamping of the cap and trade/carbon credit industry (that, by the way, will “handle” – in just two years at full flow – the same amount of cash that the entire oil industry has worked for, actuall work because they have had to produce an actual commodity not just paperwork,  since the second world war) that holds the media and public in thrall. People acted stunned when 1 oil co produced “profits” of 10 billion. Imagine how stunned they may become when trillions is “traded” annually. For what? So that the biggest polluters can “buy” their way out of trouble.

I would just ignore it all like so many do if it were not for the fact that these liars and charlatans are pushing for green this and that but current technology is not yet fit. Their subsidising of wind farms, biofool and solar (to name the three big ones) and forcing production at the expense of continued development will undo many years of hard won ground when the public (and shareholders) find out that it is all about 20 years too early to be (anywhere near) efficient. I know we have to start somewhere but they are ruining the entire movement by creating a bubble out of it. When it pops it will set everything back by decades as well as exposing the science industry as the money grabbing advocacy machine that it has become. They have been given over $50billion to “settle” the “science” of global warming and all they do is ask for more, more or less. More time and more funding. Less discussion, no dissent and zero debate. Nice.

Anyway, it’s been a while since I bothered railing against it because big brother sees cap and trade as a revenue source – even though China and India will (must) keep building coal-fired power plants and have zero intention of joining any “alliance” that the (continuously partying in tropical paradises) UN IPCC one world government machine get the west to sign on to. Their scientists (China, India, Pakistan, etc) have reported to their respective governments and told them “CO2 is good for plants, doesn’t cause “dangerous” warming and can never reach noxious levels even if everything that can burn is burned”. It is an inconvenient truth that geologists are in the best position to see the big picture as they train in chemistry, physics, engineering and earth sciences, but most of the good (best at their job) have been employed by oil companies at some time so are targeted only in that area.

Meanwhile the really noxious shit is getting buried, figuratively and literally, as the media and the green environmentalists concentrate on that vital part of the carbon cycle without which we would all perish, that exists in trace quantities (some say dangerously low) of less than 400 parts per million (when atomic powered nuclear missile toting submarines are permitted to run for months at between 4000 and 11,000 parts per million – because those levels are safe for animals and do not alter human decision making capability) and can never exist in sufficient quantities to alter the PH of the worlds oceans, if that were indeed possible due to “buffering” –
CO2 – innocent as charged, has existed at 10 times today’s level for geological periods of time while temperatures were both much higher and much lower than today, entirely swamped by water vapour as a greenhouse “forcing” and vital to a cooling world (despite what the media and all the tentacles of big brother state we have not “warmed” while the computer models have claimed we have) with an increasing population (that even if it doubled could be fed from the untouched Russian steppes alone).

Despite my anger at the likes of WWF and Greedpiece continuously avoiding real, and curable, trouble such as starvation and thirst while pushing this “CO2 is warming the globe” heap of shite uphill I am very positive in my outlook compared to 20 years ago. Why, I even find myself agreeing with a Tory!

If you need a document that encapsulates the lies, distortion and manipulation of science in duty to false ends this is it-

Delivered to both houses and all senators individually but destined to be ignored as they all have their snouts in the trough. I advise everyone to read it at least once.

The poor will hurt most, as usual. The rich will stay rich, as usual.

But. Cold is coming. People will look back and shake their heads that we once thought that the tiny, tiny “warming” we have “suffered” at the end of the last century was in any way shape or form bad/catastrophic/dangerous. Cold brings the four horsemen. Warmth brings more, and bigger, plants, less death, longer lives, more drinking water(rainfall) and less desert, greater crop growing areas and more leisure time to teach our children and to discover solutions to real problems just like we always do.

All the (entirely) natural oceanic cycles have turned to their cold phases. The sun has produced less sunspots during this transition between cycles than at any time since the “Dalton Minimum” when ice fairs were held on the Thames and plague, pestilence, drought and the accompanying hunger, war and exodus were the “norm”.

Luckily, we have over 200 years of easily available coal (yep – even if another China came on stream) and oil (yep – “we only ever find oil where we look for it” the political implications of that are clear – we can’t allow the natives to make money old chap so we just don’t look for it where we can’t control it) Check out how everyone is “claiming” their continental shelf rights – although it is difficult to research – the UK just claimed a massive area around the Falklands – surprise, surprise.

As I have said before, if we don’t find cheap clean sources of energy by then we deserve to die off.

Heat or Eat?

Richard S Lindzen :- “In brief, we have the new paradigm where simulation and programs have replaced theory and observation, where government largely determines the nature of scientific activity, and where the primary role of professional societies is the lobbying of the government for special advantage.”

A lot of people face a stark choice this winter. Stay warm, or eat? It would be simplistic to say that bad choices by government regarding the mitigation of CO2 emissions is the main reason, but so would blaming the credit crunch. The economic crisis, coupled with the inconvenient cold, is causing the warmista to shriek more loudly that their dissonance must be calmed. We must not, according to them, take our eye off the climate crisis. Well, here is the news:

There were several football matches postponed on Tue 28th Oct – and not just northern (UK) ones either – and we hardly ever abandon matches that have started and it is outside the “normal” time frame to do so for frost, sleet or snow. Meanwhile the blinkered UK government were spending 6 hours destroying the future economy of that once great nation by voting to pass a bill that will “limit” emissions by 80% by sometime after they have all retired. Yeah right.

A Google search for “cold weather records” produces some gems most of the time but recently we see cold records being beaten every day and snowfall extent and depth records are also increasing, and it is still not yet November.

The energy companies believed, along with most of the western world, that warm weather was going to remain the “norm” and they had better cover their margins by increasing prices before falling, or flattening, demand crushed their profits. In the face of what seems, already, to be a severe winter on the way they may have to face windfall taxes before Christmas. I think the energy companies could be the canary in the coalmine for others to rethink the way CO2 is being presented as a “dangerous pollutant” by one pretender to the ultimate crown.

Thankfully “Joe (the plumber) Average” knows a tax scam when he sees one. Recent polls, albeit asking the usual loaded questions, have revealed that roughly 18% of those questioned “believed” in man made global warming. The same respondent faces higher food bills at the supermarket, bigger heating bills and higher pump prices for most fuels as a direct result of this collective insanity that claims the gas that gives us all of the above is killing us, going to kill us or going to kill our children.

I cannot sufficiently express my contempt for the politicians who refuse to investigate the properties of CO2, the public for not standing up to be counted, but mostly, the scientists who nuzzle the teat of funding and gorge at the public trough. It gets wearying to ask the same questions of those who supposedly know. Where is the evidence that CO2 causes any kind of imbalance in the world’s energy flux? Where is the science stating that CO2 residence time is anything other than <10 years? Where is the science stating that a “runaway” effect will take place because of the above?

Here is some that shows how much of the research that would answer the above questions has been suppressed. The whole site is informative but I offer just this one paper – http://folk.uio.no/tomvs/esef/ESEF3VO2.pdf – for your perusal today.

As a species we are being asked to spend trillions of dollars to prevent an unproven future disaster yet we are apparently unwilling to part with a few millions to address the questions whose answers could prevent egregious economic breakdown, allow us to concentrate on the real pollutants and dissuade me that a power, and tax, grab is under way.

Instead, as a result of inaction and data manipulation I, for one, see that there is zero problem from our CO2 emissons that are allowing our modern world to exist, keeping us warm and feeding us and that anyone who joins the crusade to demonize the life giving gas is destitute of morals, science and the hope that mankind, as it has every time it has faced a problem, will triumph over the political darkness that claims CO2 is bad, m’kay.

It is almost as if there is a concerted effort to create and perpetuate a “big lie” around the most vital component of life we know as CO2. Every politician and most of the authority societies and unions are competing with one another to bolster this lie. It beggars belief. People will die but the perpetrators will get golden handshakes, golden parachutes and lecture circuit riches in retirement. Excuse me while I puke.

Listen. CO2 is innocent. Follow the money.

Northern Ireland Environment Minister, Sammy Wilson :- “Reasoned debate must replace the scaremongering of the green climate alarmists…….hysterical psuedo-religion”. Recently Mr Wilson said he refused to “blindly accept” the need to make significant changes to the economy to stop climate change. He said, “The tactic used by the “green gang” is to label anyone who dares disagree with their view of climate change as some kind of nutcase who denies scientific fact,”. “Reasoned debate must replace the scaremongering of the green climate alarmists.” And lo, the prophecy is fulfilled; John Woods of Friends of the Earth said Mr Wilson was “like a cigarette salesman denying that smoking causes cancer”. Right now Northern Ireland, via Mr Wilson could become the centre of world media attention. If they could only expose this stuff they could end up with substancially greater rewards than just blindly following faux science and paying handsomely for the privilege. The savings would be huge. To lives and economies. Worthwhile? You decide. By demanding a debate you could show the world how a charlatan can accrue 100 million dollars in just 8 years using fear, uncertainty and doubt whilst not practising what he preacheth. Al Gore can only continue to cash in on carbon while the situation is anything but “settled science” because the lack of debate is over a complete unknown and there is no “knock-out punch” on either side at this moment. This wouldn’t matter if his, and his friends’ influence with government had not pushed people to the brink of starvation, nations to the edge of bankruptcy and science to the margins of comedy. The tiny, tiny amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere feed the world. It is a fundamental part of the carbon cycle for which we carbon based life-forms are surely grateful. The incidental fact that it is produced whenever we, as animal inhabitants of this world attempt to create comfort is dwarfed by the focus of commerce, through the prism of politics, to manipulate economies (and maybe create one single economy in the process), stunt growth and subjugate humanity. All the loudest voices depend upon climate change, in the form of global warming for a living or to make their fortunes or to control assets. The dumbest just keep their mouths shut and accept the cheques. The smart ones are investing heavily in renewables that, co-incidentally, are as far away from being efficient enough to pay for themselves – ever – as the same length of time we can continue our use of coal and oil at the current rate before we get a little tight with it. During this period we will double CO2 “they” say. This will raise the mythical temperature of the mean by 2.0C “they” say. This figure would still be 1/2 the amount we put into a greenhouse to promote growth and 1/4 of the amount that exists in your average living room with 4 people exhaling. “They” say. In 100 years if we have not weaned ourselves from the teat of organic fuel we deserve to move back into the caves. Problem being. There has not been a debate. A nice long one with security guards and judges.

Normal Warming Will Be Resumed As Soon As Technically Possible.

Mark Twain :-
“In religion and politics people’s beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.”

There is a movement underway to kill science. I will purposefully choose evangelical words and phrases from here on in. When likening AGW to a creed we are not far off the mark. Science and religion have recently swapped hats. We need a crusade to overturn the demagogic ideologues.

The satanic steamroller has a lot of momentum already.
Those scientists who have already thrown their weight behind it will fight tooth and claw to prevent opposing views from being debated, oh yeah, sorry, that is already happening. Politicians will not admit they were suckered, ever, on any subject, so don’t expect to get anything but short shrift from that quarter. The mainstream media will do as they are told, they abandoned the journalistic code http://www.spj.org/ethicscode.asp some time back and continue to draw salaries for propagating propaganda to the exclusion of all else, particularly the production and disbursement of unbiased news reporting. They all sing from the same hymnbook.
The Citizens, meanwhile, http://www.thetrumpet.com/index.php?q=4975.3240.0.0 will go about their business in their manufactured, misinformed, myopic daze. Their suppressed guilt at being able to watch television, drink Starbucks and drive their SUV whilst other inhabitants of planet Earth are starving is being used against them while they sleep. Any truly sentient 1st world person has that guilt and the greens drip their dogma through this crack into our very subconscious. We begin to think that maybe there really are too many people and not enough resources. Maybe the world would be a better place if we stopped using oil and coal to power our infernal machine. Maybe a new stone age is the best option. Maybe following the credo of taxation leading to mitigation is the only path to that goal. Let us accept the draconian measures put forward by those paragons of truth and integrity such as Al Gore and the UN IPCC. After all they got the Dynamite prize for peace did they not? This endorsement surely trumps anything mere scientists can provide. After all our leaders were chosen so as to help us make these informed decisions and to implement policy in our best interests.

There has been a recent test on ABC “news”.
They attacked Fred Singer and a lot of people have reacted strongly http://www.abcnews.go.com/Technology/GlobalWarming/comments?type=story&id=4506059 but I feel that there will be no apology given, much less a platform for Fred to defend himself. The usual, false, accusation that he was funded by “Big Oil” is foremost in any attack on Fred but they miss a pertinent point. Whatever came out of “the fossil fuel industry’s multi-million dollar, years long campaign of propaganda to misinform the American public about the reality of global warming”? Where are all the papers, peer reviewed or otherwise, disproving MMGW?

Some may feel this incredible assault was a show of strength, proving that the MSM can do anything. They besmirch one of the world’s most luminous innovators and ignore, or even hide his research and yet promote a proven liar and his science fiction horror story to the exclusion of all else – especially the truth. A set of lies that has, perversely but fittingly, garnered a “Fantasy land” award for a documentary not to mention $100,000,000 in the folding stuff inside the last 8(eight) years for its “creator”. We are through the looking glass. Freedom is slavery.

It all comes down to budgets and agenda. Environmentalism run rampant will produce the diametrical opposite to its stated aims. Maybe that is precisely its adherents’ hidden agenda. We are already seeing world markets in corn, wheat and rice being malformed by an equally twisted belief that food should be turned into fuel even when it is more damaging to the biosphere, more likely to lead to famine and more likely to stall real alternative developments than allowing the free market to prevail. The founder of Greenpeace, Dr. Patrick Moore has stated that Greenpeace itself and its’ policies; “Tend strongly to be anti-human”, “anti science and technology”, “anti-trade and anti-capitalism”, “anti-business”, “anti-civilization”, and “invariably misleading”. Greenpeace are only one arrow in the fundamentalists’ quiver.

They ignore, purposefully, the tortuous and hazard strewn road that got us from the cave to the space station. We lived without fire. Miserably. We burned wood and still merely subsisted even when we discovered charcoal and invented metalworking. We found the energy locked up in coal and even the working classes began to live longer and enjoy a modicum of leisure time. Oil is merely the next, fortuitously discovered step on this path toward a world without waste. Thankfully we have hundreds of years of easily exploited reserves of oil and coal to see us through until we find better alternatives. Doubly fortunate is the fact that the only, long lived, output when we burn this treasure sensibly is plant food and we are nowhere near(less than 25%) to having optimum levels of that present in our atmosphere. Even if another China was to burst onto the scene we have centuries before a truly beneficial concentration is achieved. Meanwhile we are exporting to the whole world, especially the developing nations who are most in need of it, free fertilizer. Another hateful waste in the envious green eyes of the environmentalists. Why should the useless eaters get anything for free, especially unfettered amounts of the life giving gas?

There is merit in the argument that climate change, and global warming in particular, allowed us to thrive and expand yet now it and the accompanying increase in CO2, which preceded the other, is made out to be a dangerous threat to humanity. Pull the other one it has alarm bells on it.

Time is a luxury we no longer have, even though cooling is upon us and the Sun will soon out all these “learned” idiots, we are in the grip of dark forces that hide under a banner of green yet are anything but.

RTFO – Same BS, Different Day.

Friedrich Nietzsche :-
“I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you”

Bio-fuel (bio fuels or biofuel) may yet do the opposite of that which it is deemed to do. It will neither prevent the price of fossil fuels from rising or reduce emmissions. It could be vastly worse than sticking with coal, gas, diesel or petroleum distillates.

The UK Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation. Announced in 2005, the RTFO is the result of a European directive requiring British fuel suppliers to ensure that 5.75% of vehicle fuels are derived from renewables before the year 2010. Primarily this will start to be achieved in the UK by adding 2.5% biofuel to all petrol and diesel at the pumps from April 2008.

Professor Robert Watson, chief scientific adviser to the United Kingdom’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, questions the environmental sustainability of biofuels. “I think it is now indeed clear that while some sources of biofuels do appear to be potentially sustainable from an environmental point of view, others certainly are not”. He calls for a moratorium on the issue. I call for everyone to wake up. Using arable land to make fuel is as nuts as claiming that plant food is polluting our air and raising global temperatures. We have untold billions of barrels of crude oil in known reserves. OK so some of it will cost more than some portions to extract or refine. So what? The price of a barrel is already 10 times what it was 9 years ago. This just makes a lot of the reserves economically viable. Now.

As there are no pipelines for the delivery and dispersion of bio-fuel, made from what was previously food and raised usually in rural locations, their transportation causes environmental problems. Their use ensures a loss of land for crops, increased deforestation and damage to the biosphere. This will lead to price rises and even famine.

This is madness in so many ways. CO2 has no increased effect on climate above the 20ppmv level. Oil is neither fossil based or running out anytime soon. We have centuries worth of coal even if consumption increases continuously. Don’t even get me started on how large the Earth’s supply of oil shale and sands are.
